Recap of Events

There has been a lot of action at National Safety Apparel over the last few months, and we have some great events coming up as well!

We have released some new and exciting products, including the Explorer Series outerwear, the Arc Flash Blanket, and our 12 cal Cotton Shirts.  All three of these products represent departures from the more traditional stylings and product lines in the PPE and arc flash industries.

Meanwhile, we've continued to push our advancement on the flash fire front, with our sweatshirts becoming the first to reach NFPA 2112 certification for flash fire resistance.  Our extensive line of coveralls are soon to follow, too - we'll have more details on that soon!

Thirdly, with the 2012 NSC Expo fast approaching, we're pleased to invite you to visit us at booth 2213. Check the floor plan to find exactly where we'll be! We will have games and drawings throughout the show, along with a wide variety of new sample items to introduce.

Sweatshirt Weather!

As we hit the end of a record-setting summer, it seems easy to forget that those beautifully cool autumn days ever existed last year. Well, they do, and they have arrived! Bundle Up With the All-New Explorer Series

 While winter seemed to take a vacation for 2011-2012, it’s unlikely that this coming cold season will show the same mercy.  That’s why National Safety Apparel is releasing its all-new Explorer Series™ outerwear garments.

The development team at NSA collaborated directly with utility workers who have quite literally been out in the cold, and got input on what types of features are needed when temperatures drop and jobs must get done. The finished result does not disappoint.

The Explorer Series™ features a parka, bomber jacket, and bib overall that are all customizable to match any task’s needs.  Enhancements such as large expandable pockets, an attachable hood, and oversized leg zippers are just a few of the options now offered – quite a deviation from the more basic patterns of previous garment sets.

On the outside, a tough and rugged layer of UltraSoft® duck material blocks wind and wetness, while the warm liner inside provides insulation for trapping your body’s own heat.

These HRC 4 garments achieve a minimum arc rating of 46 cal/cm², and are perfectly suited for utility workers, as well as the ever-expanding oil and gas industry across the northwestern United States.

A Sweatshirt Fit for Flash Fire

National Safety Apparel’s FR Sweatshirts First in Line for UL Certification

As the unusually hot summer of 2012 finally transitions to autumn, the long-absent cool air will be back. This means that sweatshirt weather is once again on the horizon. To that point, National Safety Apparel announces the first and only FR sweatshirts certified to NFPA 2112 for flash fire resistance.

When there is a flammable medium present, such as dust, chemical vapors, or gasoline, a spark can instantly light a very dangerous, rapidly moving fire. If an arc flash hazard is present, an electrical arc would be more than enough to ignite the dispersed fuel. That is why NSA deems dual protection so important to today’s industrial workers.

“With the already proven NFPA 70E arc flash protection of our UltraSoft® Fleece sweatshirts, certifying this product with UL has allowed us to provide documented flash fire protection as well – protection from two life threatening hazards in one garment,” says Jeff Martin, Director of Technology at NSA.

NFPA 2112 requires a third party’s approval for meeting its standard, and Underwriter’s Laboratories, or UL, is the most commonly used agency.  “We are the only company whose sweatshirts are garment-certified by UL to NFPA 2112, an achievement that we’re very proud of,” says Martin.

National Safety Apparel’s research and design team put forth considerable effort to get its garments up to the standard, and the sweatshirts are the first in what they hope to be a long line of UL certified garments to come.
