OSHA 1910.269 Updates

OSHA 1910.269 revised compliancy dates for 2015

After lengthy negotiations OSHA has revised the compliancy dates for arc flash and flame resistant clothing.  In April of 2014, OSHA revised 1910.269 mandating that certain employers provide protective clothing to their employees that will not melt, drip, or ignite and that will not contribute to injury.

OSHA has now announced the following delays on the citation dates to the these revisions:

  •   Arc Flash Hazard Analysis compliancy date is now March 31, 2015.  The old date to complete the estimated energy exposure was January 1, 2015. OSHA has now stated that no citations for failure to comply will be issued prior to April 1, 2015.
  •  Flame Resistant Clothing (Pant) compliancy date is now March 31, 2015.  The original date to comply with flame resistant pants/jeans was July 2014.  OSHA has stated that no citation will be issued prior to April 1, 2015 for employees failing to wear flame resistant pants when the employees are wearing 11 oz. or heavier weight cotton pants.
  • Arc Rated Protective Clothing and Equipment compliancy date is now August 31, 2015.  The original date to comply with the arc flash hazard that employees were exposed to was April 1, 2015.  OSHA has stated that no citations will be issued prior to September 1, 2015 for employers failing to provide protective clothing or equipment rated higher than 8 cal/cm2
